Getting There

I've been a tad MIA and sadly that's been true when it comes to my workouts too. Having a visitor in town definitely disrupted my workout regime but that's okay. I did manage to get a run in and so haven't digressed in that area.. which is a good thing.

This morning I ran 6 miles/10km and it felt great! I ran it in an hour and 2 minutes which isn't quite as fast as I meant to go as breaking an hour is always the goal but heck, it was close.

I am now at the point where I can run 8-10km quite comfortably and I'm getting faster. It's crazy how the human body can learn to do things.

My race is in less than a month and I'm getting kind of antsy about that. I need to be able to run a little less than double what I can manage now. I think I will be able to do it. The plan is to go for a long long run on Saturday... either for 12.5km or 1.5 hours.. whatever happens first.

It's nice to have the incentive of a race deadline as otherwise I'd be so tempted to sleep in.  It's getting darker and cooler out there and today was the first day I wore a long sleeved shirt! But I've got work to do.. miles to log.. and so out I go.

I like the above picture as I need to remind myself that as long as I'm gradually improving, that's a good thing. I'm not going to turn into a fantastic runner over night but every step counts and eventually I'll get there. Patience is such a huge part of running.. who knew?
