Long Run - Take 1
Tomorrow was supposed to be my long run day but I ended up going running today instead. For the first time ever I ran 12.6km.. that's 7.87 miles if you understand distance that way. I use the Nike+ running app and often am amused by what different athletic celebrities tell me when I finish my run. Today Ellie Goulding congratulated me for running my longest run ever! Thanks Ellie!
I have taken to running intervals instead of just one long steady go. Initially I was skeptical about this approach but I've realized that by including mini walking breaks, I have a lot more energy for the long haul. I've been doing running for 10 minutes, walking for 1 minute, repeat many times and I think it works. I've been trying to keep up a less than 10 minute mile pace and if I can maintain this.. I'll be able to finish my 17.8km in about 2 hours, which is my goal. I need to make sure I take care of myself and don't hurt myself or start to slack off. Not long now....
