Half Way There.. sort of.

Have been managing to stay on top of things this weekend. We had an International Festival at school yesterday which meant sadly, no Zumba for me but happily lots of exotic foods and drinks from all over the world. I managed to control myself and actually stay within calorie limits. I did have an amazing falafel from the Israeli booth which made me quite happy!

This morning I went for a long run in the rain. 9.5km to be exact. OK that's maybe not much to some people but I've been working on getting my running groove back. In May I ran a 10K and then seemed to promptly fall apart right after that. Due to a bit of a medical "accident" and a combination of downright laziness and then a 7 week holiday.. well.. I fell off the running wagon. A few times I tried to do a 10 minute run with 1 minute walk, 4 times but that was a bit of a struggle.

So when school started up I dusted off my Ease into 10K running program and started hitting the pavement. I do well when I'm on a program and when I have a goal so I also signed up for a 17.8km race at the end of November. Today I was able to run half of that distance which I think is pretty decent. I still have a long way to go but I'll get there. I'm planning on increasing my mileage every week by a few kms.. (can one increase MILEage by adding kilometres? The whole metric system of measurement confuses me when it comes to running) But I digress..

I've got a plan and a race date so I guess I'm on my way..
